Connecting Classrooms recruited for partnerships with Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan in March 2009 and 26 partnerships have been established involving 40 UK schools. We have no plans to create further partnerships with these countries this year, but will post updates on this page if this changes.
The programme in China and Hong Kong is currently being finalised and we will update this page later in 2009.
We have already created 21 partnerships between districts and groups of schools in the UK and their counterparts in East Asia. We will focus on consolidating these groups in 2009 and so will not be recruiting widely in the UK this year. Further opportunities to form partnerships with districts and schools in East Asia will be available from April 2010.
The programme in Europe is currently being finalised and we will update this page later in 2009.
We are currently recruiting new schools and local authorities/federations of schools to work with partners in India and Sri Lanka. (See How to get involved for more information.) We will update this page after this recruitment round.
We established new partnerships between UK schools and local authorities and their counterparts in Jamaica, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela in August 2009. We are currently recruiting new schools and local authorities/federations of schools to link with partners in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia. (See How to get involved for more information.) We will update this page after this recruitment round.
We recruited 12 clusters of UK schools and their local authorities to link with schools and districts throughout the Middle East in August 2009. Further opportunities to form partnerships with this world region will be available in 2010.
We recruited groups of UK primary and secondary schools and their local authorities to link with schools and districts in Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Syria and Tunisia in August 2009. We are also working with a number of other UK schools and local authorities this year to build on their established links with partners in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Palestine. We will post application information about further recruitment rounds on this website in due course.
Connecting Classrooms was originally developed between the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa, and the success of the partnerships in this regional programme has been a key factor in the programme’s global roll-out this year. In order to develop the more sustainable district linking model of the global programme, during 2009-10 we will be working with a limited number of districts within the UK that already have schools involved in international partnership activity. As a result, we will not be accepting new applications from UK schools to join the project at this stage. We hope to recruit more widely again in 2010.
Contact us if you would like more information about the programme in any of these regions.
