The Computer Gaming Issue

It is difficult to think of another entertainment medium that has progressed as quickly or as far as video gaming. Since the early seventies video gaming has evolved rapidly to become possibly the most exciting cultural phenomenon of the past ten years.

What do you think the UK’s role has been - consumer or developer? It may surprise you to know that the answer to this question is both. In this issue of UKinfocus we take a look at the role of the UK in the computer gaming industry and the design and technological developments the UK is responsible for. UKinfocus will also look at some of the related health and social issues affecting the UK today because of our love of computer games and if you have ever wondered which games we like to play, take a look through the spotlight section.

All articles (including 'Spotlight') are accompanied by language activities, except for 'Virtual Reality".

All photographs were taken by Ian Ketteridge. You can find out more about him on his portfolio site www.ianketteridge.com
