Gallions Ecopark
At the Kyoto conference in 1997 participating governments agreed environmental targets aimed at reducing the environmental inpact of human society. Ecopark shows how the UK social housing sector can contribute to environmental sustainability.

Renewable energy targets
The European Commission has set the following target: 12% of gross domestic energy consumption must be produced from renewable energy sources by 2010. In the UK only 6% is at present so we have a long way to go in five years if we are to move away from reliance on oil and other non-renewable sources of energy.

UK 'failing on greenhouse gases'

The UK is set to miss a key target on cutting greenhouse gases, UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has admitted.
The prime minister said the UK was not expected to meet its pledge to cut carbon dioxide emissions to 20% below 1990 levels by 2010.
