History
1947 is believed to be the first year when a game was designed for playing on a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT). This very simple game was designed by Thomas T. Goldsmith Jr. and Estle Ray Mann. A U.S. Patent was issued on Dec 14th, 1948. Though the filing date was in 1947, the game was probably designed earlier in 1946. The system used eight vacuum tubes (four 6Q5 triodes and four 6V6 tetrodes) and simulated a missile being fired at a target, probably inspired by radar displays used during World War II. Several knobs allowed adjusting the curve and speed of the moving point representing the missile. Because graphics could not be drawn electronically at the time, small targets drawn on a simple overlay were placed on the CRT by the builder of this game. It is believed to be the earliest system specifically designed for game play on a CRT screen.

Person
Many people attribute the invention of the video game to William Higinbotham, who, in 1958, created a game called Tennis for Two on an oscilloscope to entertain visitors at Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York. Unlike Pong and similar early games, Tennis for Two shows a simplified tennis court from the side. The ball is affected by gravity and must be played over the net. The game is played with two bulky controllers each equipped with a knob for trajectory and a button for firing the ball over the net. Tennis for Two was exhibited for two seasons before its dismantling in 1959.

Numbers
When it comes to home game consoles, Sony has it sussed! Around six years ago they launched their legendary Playstation. In January 2001, they had sold approximately 79.61 million units of the game worldwide. But then on March 4, 2000 Playstation's little brother – Playstation 2 – hit the shelves, selling 98,000 units in four hours.
The world's most popular videogame system is the Nintendo Game Boy, which sold more than 100 million units between 1989 and 2000. Since its launch, Game Boy has sold continuously throughout the world at an average rate of more than 1,000 systems per hour for the last 11 years.

Thing
Mod or modification is a term generally applied to computer games, especially first-person shooters and real-time strategy games. Mods are made by the general public, and can be entirely new games in themselves. They can include new items, weapons, characters, enemies, models, modes, textures, levels, story lines and gamemodes. They also usually take place in unique locations. They can be single-player or multiplayer. Mods that add new content to the underlying game are often called partial conversions, while mods that create an entirely new game are called total conversions.

Fictional character
In the PC game Black and White by Lionhead Studios, the player controls a god-like character that trains an artificially intelligent giant creature. It is considered to be the most complex character in a computer game. During the course of a game, the creature learns from the player and develops its own distinct personallity.
The game's designers explain further: “Chosen by you from magical, special animals, your Creature will copy you, you will teach him and he will learn by himself. He will grow, ultimately to 30 metres, and can do anything you can do in the game. Your Creature can help the people or can kill and eat them. He can cast Miracles to bring rain to their crops or he can drown them in the sea. Your Creature is your physical manifestation in the world of Eden, He is whatever you want him to be.
The size of the creature's mind increases from 6–7 KB up to 500 KB. This is the first time a computer game character has been programmed with such empathic learning capabilities.
