The oldest anatomical treatise extant is an Egyptian papyrus probably written around 1600 BC. It shows that the heart, vessels, liver, spleen, kidneys, ureters and bladder were recognized, and that the blood-vessels were known to come from the heart. Other vessels are described, some carrying air, some mucus, while two to the right ear are said to carry the breath of life, and two to the left ear the breath of death.

Polybus: a recluse, severed from the world and its enjoyments, and devoting himself to the study of anatomy and physiology, and to the composition of works on these subjects. To him has been ascribed the whole of the book on the Nature of the Child and most of that On Man; both physiological treatises interspersed with anatomical sketches. His anatomical information appears to have been rude and inaccurate. He represents the large vessels of the body as consisting of four pairs; the first proceeding from the head by the back of the neck and spinal cord to the hips, lower extremities and outer ankle; the second, consisting of the jugular vessels (ai sfagitides), proceeding to the loins, thighs, hams and inner ankle; the third proceeding from the temples by the neck to the scapula and lungs, and thence by mutual intercrossings to the spleen and left kidney, and the liver and right kidney, and finally to the rectum; and the fourth from the fore-part of the neck to the upper extremities, the fore-part of the trunk, and the organs of generation.

Most Fingers And Toes On A Living Person
Brothers Tribhuwan and Triloki Yadav of India have the condition polydactylism (meaning having more than the usual number of digits), whereby each of their hands have five fingers and a thumb, and each foot has six toes.
Britain's Godfrey Hill (b.1928) has the condition super numerary, with 10 fingers and two thumbs. Godfrey found his hands an advantage at school – he topped the class at adding in the days when 12 pennies made a shilling. His condition has won him attention around the world, especially in Tunisia, where he was mistaken for a descendant of Allah.
At an inquest held on a baby boy at Shoreditch in the East End of London, UK, on September 16, 1921, it was reported that he had 14 fingers and 15 toes.
Polydactylism can be caused by any one of over 30 rare congenital (present at birth) medical syndromes. The condition is actually relatively common, with as many as 2 in 1,000 births affected. These extra digits are most commonly fleshy bumps without any bones, but can be complete fingers or toes.
