To travel is to make a journey, usually over a long distance, or to move or go from one place to another.
A holiday (US = vacation) is a time, often one or two weeks or more, when someone does not go to work or school but is free to do what they want, such as travel or relax.
: Holidays. People sometimes think the only choice of holiday we have is to go abroad, or to endure a miserable two weeks in the rain in a run-down seaside resort. They're wrong, though. See issue
: A beach. Imagine a beach; a quiet place, with only the noise of the sea and the gulls in the background. There are boats floating near the shore and a few people swimming in the water next to them. It’s a hot day, and there are some people lying on the sand enjoying the sunshine and slowly going brown. There are no shops, no people making noises, no loud music, everything is peaceful. There is just the sea, the sun, and the beach; a little paradise. Read article
: Crazy festivals. There are many famous festivals around the world. The Carnivals in Rio de Janeiro and Venice, Munich's Oktoberfest and London's Notting Hill Carnival are three examples. Read article
: Ecotourism. Nowadays, many of us try to live in a way that will damage the environment as little as possible and we want to take these attitudes on holiday with us. This is why alternative forms of tourism are becoming more popular all over the world. Read article
