Lucent as the sound of the bell The thin jade of the greenery Deepening I sense In the long lasting rain of spring
Your branches which had pointed the heavens Like the legs of countless insects Are now in flower attired in milkiness, Lucent and flushed, like the bloom of young maidens.
As if the goddess of spring had taken Her transient seat on your obsidian shoulders, Your lustre that I'm drinking in Will though soon vanish into the air.
Behold, her sword of gems will shine As she blows; her ruthless winds of fire, Making your petals fall like snow, My blood transparent, with pleasure and fear.
O Cherry Blossoms, my mortal beloved, Someday I'll go, when you're in bloom.
Hiroko Okawa
