Poem One: Oh Child!
This poem was sent to us by Mireille Moukarzel of Lebanon.

Eyes are opened wide
They are like a bright candle
He is sleeping as an angel
In one of Casablanca's black nights

Thinking that I am his knight
He started to stare at me
With no words he begged me
Feed me, u r my light

Hands crossed, tongue tied
I will come back, I said
Bringing him a bed
So he dreams of snow white

So late! Oh child
You left for a hard life
I cut you with a knife
God be with you, oh child

Poem Two: Summer!
This poem was sent to us by Sultana Haider of Pakistan.

Will eat lots of ice cream
Will sure go to beaches
Will sure have lots of fun
Sitting under the sun
It was 18th May
And my school's last day
Sitting at the table with my friends
Discussing summer plans
The fun began from 1st of June
Ended on 4th August at 12 noon
Monday till Sunday
Oh my god, non-stop fun it was
Whoo! No-one was there as our boss
Funky parties, concerts and summer camps
Thank god they were not all banned
On 5th June we got a booming proposal
Believe me it wasn't a disposal
We just gave it a thought
And more ideas were brought
We started with my maid
Letting her explore her ideas
We surely didn't want to be paid
Hand in hand makes a long chain
Of love, prosperity and sharing pain
Hamida taught her child and she taught her friend
And now here my poem ends
We got one moral this time
That exploring love, knowledge and happiness
Can bring back all that shine!

Poem Three: Child in War
This poem was sent to us by Lisa Chen of China.

We are seemed to have known before.
Maybe there are children like you
Plenty more.

When I looked into your shimmering eyes,
You were a little shy. But
You had a sturdy faith in life,
So deep inside.

I wondered how
You set such a strong mind,
Which made your love in peace
A bit blind.
Your wishes are always so simple
And beautiful and special,
While, somehow,
The world is rather awful.
When I held your cold, thin hands,
You were shaking like a leaf.
You said:
"The shells were haunting aorund,
Not like friends."

Poem Four: No Longer a Child
This poem was sent to us by Lisa Chen of China.

I used to be a child
A little nail in the crowd,
Curiously asking
WHAT? WHY? HOW?

I used to be a child
Singing, Dancing, Shouting
Playing, Dreaming, Risking
Without worrying
I laughed loud,
And cried as well
But, no longer now.

I used to be a child,
Saying my dreams proud.
Though the other day was another
DREAM COME TRUE
I believed with no doubt.
But I know, no longer now.

They say that this is growing up.
Well, talking about growing, hum?

DO YOU KNOW WHY?
DO YOU KNOW HOW?

Poem Five: My School Days
This poem was sent to us by Habib Ur Rehman Abbasi of Pakistan.

Oh! We have left some days behind
Cause we have settled things behind
And we have left some images behind
Oh! The beautiful days of my school days

But still we remember those days
And we speak about friendship
When we were in the garden
Where flowers bloom and leaves sway
Oh! The beautiful days of my school days

Though life has now passed
But those beautiful memories
Whisper in my ears and call
"Don't feel alone, we are with you"
Oh! The beautiful days of my school days
