LearnEnglish Central site changes
What has changed and why have we changed it?

Introduction

If you are a return visitor to LearnEnglish Central you will have noticed that there is a different look and feel to the site. We have made some changes, but all of your old favourites are still available. This page is designed to help you understand why we have made the changes, and how you can find your way around.

Why change our site?

We are constantly trying to make our site better. We listen to experts, both in the field of education (in particular learning English as a foreign/second language) and also in the field of website technology. We have commissioned studies and evaluations of our site and looked very carefully at the recommendations made by the experts. Most importantly, though, we listen to you – our users – through the large amounts of feedback that you provide us with. When we put all this information together, the “new” site is what we came up with.

What changes have been made?

Our home page has a different look and feel.
The navigation has changed.
The images on site are different.

After months of consultation, planning and testing, we’ve created a new home page and navigation system which we believe will mean a positive change for you, our users.

Apart from the user feedback and expert advice mentioned above, we use web statistics to select what should go on our home page – since space is limited, the new design attempts to get you to where you want to go as quickly as possible.

This information is also what drives our new navigation. Our feedback and statistics inform us what the most important things are for our users, and how we can get you there in the most logical way, while never forgetting the underlying pedagogical considerations that drive the site.

Finally, we hope that our use of new images will not only give the site a fresh look, but will help you to find what you want more efficiently. We have kept images commissioned to illustrate articles and stories, as well as our cartoon section, but all the other images are new.

We hope you enjoy the changes and find them useful as well.

Please send us your feedback by scrolling to the bottom of the page.
