We are currently in the process of redesigning LearnEnglish. But with over a thousand pages, this migration will take some time. For the time being, some of our content will be on the 'new' site, and some on the 'old' (green) site. To link to pages on the 'new' site, please follow the procedure in the previous question. To can link to pages on the 'old' site, though sooner or later these will be migrated and therefore disappear. If you wish to link to the 'old' site, please follow the procedure below:
LearnEnglish was originally designed using framesets. We are hoping to move away from this in the near future, because using a frameset means you can't link to an individual page.
We have tried to make linking to the week's new content easier by creating special framesets (although these may need 'refreshing' to see the new content).
However, if you want to link to an individual page, here is a workaround
Right-click on the right-hand side of the page you want to link to, and choose 'Properties'
Look at the url, which will be something like:
http://www.learnenglish.org.uk/magazine/magazine_home_dinosaurs.html
Copy the end of the url - the part after
http://www.learnenglish.org.uk/…
In this case
magazine/magazine_home_dinosaurs.html
Paste this onto the end of one of these strings, depending on the site you want to link to:
For LearnEnglish Central:
http://www.learnenglish.org.uk/mframe.html?menu=menu/main/menu.html&content=
For LearnEnglish Kids:
http://www.learnenglish.org.uk/kframe.html?menu=menu/kids/menu.html&content=
For LearnEnglish Military
http://www.learnenglish.org.uk/mzframe.html?menu=menu/militaryenglish/menu.html&content=
So, for LearnEnglish Central, this will give you something like:
http://www.learnenglish.org.uk/mframe.html?menu=menu/main/menu.html&content=
magazine/magazine_home_dinosaurs.html
Not very elegant, but this will link to the page and keep the menu visible
