Young Creative Entrepreneurs’ Club Event #2
The British Council Latvia is organising the 2nd Young Creative Entrepreneur Club Event on 30th September from 16.00 to 18.00. This time we invite young creative entrepreneurs and emerging entrepreneurs to take part in the workshop ‘Extending the scope of design’ with the focus on design export management.
The workshop will be lead by the British design expert Michael Thomson of Design Connect (London). Michael is an independent and international strategist, consultant, facilitator and advisor in design and creative industries. He has been named by the UK’s journal, ‘Design Week’ as one of the UK’s top fifty most influential people in design.
Preparing for the upcoming workshop in Riga Michael says: ‘The skill of design thinking can support the strategies of businesses and corporations in ways in which they themselves cannot easily replicate – if only they knew the importance of it in the first place. The Latvian marketplace for design is relatively small. Design companies building the know-how to export their services will find new opportunities and new markets which can help them to sustain their businesses, and grow their capacity and revenue. In light of these two factors, what ways can the Latvian design sector grow its capacity and relevance to both national and international markets? What steps need to be taken at the levels of business, industry, government and within the design sector itself, to help grow the Latvian design sector and to support its development over the next five to ten year period?’
Facilitated by Michael Thomson this two hour, interactive workshop will offer briefings from speakers from Latvia’s and UK design industry and businesses and will provide the opportunity to ‘workshop’ the key issues, resulting in some recommendations for both policy makers and the industry.
The workshop will take place at the British Council Latvia office Blaumana street 5a-2, Riga.
If you are interested to take part, please, fill the on-line application form and submit it by the 28th of September. Please note that the number of seats is limited!
