Success doesn’t just happen. You have to want it, work hard for it and keep trying again and again - it can take a million failed ideas for just one achievement to be born. The British Council Latvia, in cooperation with Stockholm School of Economics in Riga Open Workshop Series in Business and Management Studies* and DDB Latvia, invites you to listen to inspiring stories of ideas brought to life against all odds. BACKGROUND In January, 2009 the British Council Latvia launched a new programme — International Young Communications Entrepreneur (IYXE) award — to champion and celebrate the importance and achievements of young creative entrepreneurs working in the field of communications. In March, 2009 IYXE09 national winner Gatis Murnieks undertook two weeks long UK communications industry programme along with other 10 international IYXE 09 award winners. UK programme was organised in partnership with D&AD - an educational charity in the UK that represents the global creative, design and advertising communities. The tour comprised many different visits, seminars and events in which Gatis met many inspiring and admirable UK communication industry experts and creative entrepreneurs. During his visit among many other meetings Gatis also met Raoul Shah, founder and CEO of the integrated creative agency Exposure. Raoul was also a member of IYXE09 international award jury. While being in Manchester Gatis met Warren Bramley, Co founder and Creative Director of the multi disciplinary creative studio four23. After returning Gatis remarked “Raoul is a true entrepreneur from the UK, with the vision to start four new businesses a year. He's the right man to talk about taking opportunities” and “Warren is a living proof that everything is possible and that it is who you are, not what you do, that people really care about.” IYXE09 AWARD FOLLOW-UP SEMINAR British Council Latvia is keen to share these inspirational thoughts and ideas with Latvian communications industry experts and practitioners and bring the qualities of “creative entrepreneur” under the spotlight. As the result on Thursday May 7, 2009 The British Council Latvia, in cooperation with Stockholm School of Economics in Riga Open Workshop Series and DDB Latvia organises IYXE09 award follow-up event “FAIL TO SUCCEED. LEARN WHY FAILING BRINGS RESULTS”. In the Seminar along with two British creative entrepreneurs also Andris Rubins, Managing Director, DDB Latvia will share his concerns, vision and existing reality of how big is the Latvian Entrepreneurial spirit and is Latvia improving in terms of entrepreneurship in communications industry or just the opposite; While IYXE09 award winner Gatis Murnieks, Creative Director from FUSE Latvia will provide a feedback about his experience acquired during the UK tour and numerous impressions and inspirations.
