Global Changemakers 4th Annual Global Summit.

Davis SiksnansDavis Siksnans has been selected as a ‘Global Changemaker’ from Latvia to attend Global Youth Summit November 15-21, 2009 in London and to join the Global Changemakers’ network. More than 1100 young people aged 16 to 25 from all around the world took part in international competition to be a part of global young leaders’ network. Davis will participate in the Summit along with other 60 winners from East & West Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa, North and South America.

The selection process was based on Application form as well as submitted YouTube video, where applicants had to demonstrate how active and involved they are in local community or youth volunteer works, or as social entrepreneurs.

They also had to show motivation how they will benefit from participation Global Youth Summit and what will be an impact on their community work and/or goals.

Latvia’s national winner Davis is 18 years old, currently living in Riga and studying International Economic Relations in Latvia University. He started as an activist in his home town's youth council where he co organized various youth events and worked towards local youth involvement. For example, last summer he was involved in organizing 4th music and sports festival ‘Fonofest’. He also has been involved in National Youth Council from which he has been sent as a delegate to participate in European Union project “Youth within building a knowledge based society”. In the future he is planning to organize an event called “Keep our brains at home” which goal is to show people in his community that there are opportunities for work, education and raising a family.

From the Global Youth Summit Davis expects to improve his project management skills and to learn more about fundraising opportunities.
