Drama
Contemporary UK drama is more vibrant than ever before. With everything from new writing and live art to classical texts and physical theatre testing the boundaries of the theatrical form, the drama scene is thriving.

Our New Writing project introduces the work of young British playwrights, facilitates sharing experience in developing and supporting drama and establishes relationships between theatre professionals.

During the last six months Daile Theatre was hosting a project where UK theatre directors and Daile Theatre actors have worked on rehearsed readings of latest plays by UK playwrights. After the successful public readings of four plays Daile Theatre has decided to invite Jan Willem van den Bosch to stage Pillowman by Martin MacDonough and to include it in the repertoire for the next year.

We will continue the work on the project by bringing together young British and Latvian playwrights to discuss the process of creating new drama with local theatre directors, actors and audiences.

Globally we work across all forms of drama – from live art and physical/visual theatre to classic and text-based drama. Read more about our activities, UK performing arts events, showcases and drama Companies.
