The creative industries are the fastest growing sector of the UK’s economy. In economic terms they already outperform traditional sectors such as agriculture and car manufacturing. They can be used as an economic driver but also as a tool for tackling issues such as social inclusion, empowerment and regeneration.
The Ministry of Culture of Latvia has identified mapping creative industries as one of their top priorities. In the previous year Stockholm School of Economics in Riga was commissioned to carry out research work in four areas: Design, Film, Theatre and Cultural Tourism. We supported this by bringing UK consultants that shared experience and advised on the research process. The results will be used for further work towards the mapping of creative industries in Latvia.
Within our creative industries projects UK experts have also helped to develop the strategy of the National Film Centre, consulted on Museum Management and development issues and worked with Latvian Popular music bands.
