The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.
In Latvia we meet the aspirations of young Latvians by creating opportunities in education, English language learning and cultural exchange.
We work with our partners, both Latvian and British, to showcase British excellence, innovation and creativity. We are a major channel for the UK's public diplomacy in Latvia - putting Latvian people in touch with people in the UK. We work for the benefit of the individual and for the mutual benefit of the UK and Latvia.
We have one centre in Riga.
Our centre in Riga offers Internet access, materials and a broad vareity of events to help you keep in touch with contemporary UK. We are pleased to accept school tours, to host appropriate events and to answer your queries on the UK.
Association with us provides opportunities for international networking, links with Latvian and British individuals and organisations, as well as opportunities for market positioning, and enhancing corporate image and reputation. We work with both local and international partners.
In the UK the British Council is registered as a charity (not-for-profit-organisation) and operates as an executive non-departmental public body. We receive a grant from the British government and are represented in 109 countries worldwide.
Our patron is Her Majesty The Queen and our Vice-Patron is His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales.
