This month’s cubed takes a look at a new technique being developed by scientists at Oxford University, which measures the spiciness of chilli peppers. The new process tests the levels of ‘capasaicinoids’, the active components which give chillies their fiery heat. It may even provide a personal chilli meter, so people can test how hot their chilli con carne is before they taste it!

Here at cubed we keep you up to date with the science that’s shaping our society and bringing a new dimension to everyday life. We give you the latest innovations in fashion and music, design and digital, film and life, to bring you the products and ideas that will change our world - prepare to be cubed....
