ENGLISH TEACHER DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

We are withdrawing from all traditional grant-funded activity aimed at teacher training. Thus, the British Council Lithuania will not fund or organise:

  • training programmes for teachers
  • stand-alone local events
  • travel grants
  • grants to researchers

The need to promote the UK’s bilateral relationship with countries across Europe is declining. Our recent research suggests that Lithuania has increasingly strong, direct links with the UK and the Council’s participation is not essential.

Recent projects
We now focus on developing and fostering lasting relationships with networks of language professionals, ensuring that the UK’s contribution to ELT helps to shape modern views and policies in language teaching.  We will seek to implement new, large-scale regional programmes which address shared priorities in Europe. Since 1992 the British Council in Lithuania has put active efforts and invested in English language teachers’ professional development in all sectors: primary, secondary and tertiary. Read more
