April 23rd is World Book Day. You'll find resources on LearnEnglish Kids this month to celebrate this day including:
* links to great sites for children about books and writers of children's books
* materials to download and print including fun bookmarks
* a new online game called 'Bookworm'

Don't forget that children can read and send in reviews of their favourite books too!

Later this month you'll find information for parents and teachers about encouraging children to read and enjoy books. Find out more in the next newsletter.

 books and reading
'Books and reading' is a page of links to websites for children. On this page your child will find links to sites about books in general, and also sites about popular books and children's writers. The sites have information and activities for children of all ages to do. Why not have a look at the sites too, and find out about books that your child might like?
Read some stories - they're not so easy!
 materials to download and print

Find materials to download and print on the 'Print and do' page. You'll find LearnEnglish Kids bookmarks, a quiz called 'Are you a bookworm?', and a poem by Levi Tafari about books.
 new game - bookworm
The bookworm is a very hungry worm. He needs something to eat - letters. In this game, children hear and see a picture of a word, for example 'fish'. Letters appear on the screen, and children have to move the worm to the first letter of the word ('f') to eat it. How many letters will they get for the bookworm? This game is great fun for children of all ages, and there is a faster version for older children too (or you!) Play Bookworm.

 book reviews
Read and send reviews of your favourite books
Don't forget that there are book reviews on LearnEnglish Kids written by children all around the world. Look through the reviews to find out about books that your child might like to read, or your child could send in a review of a book that they'd like to recommend.
