EXPERIENCE THE BEST OF UK ARTS

We bring the most innovative and dynamic creative output from the UK to the people of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. We run arts events every year in both countries, working with local partners and sponsors.

Visual Arts
Supported by our colleagues in London, we can advise on all aspects of British visual arts, from helping with exhibitions to professional seminars and conferences.
We also arrange exhibitions of British art and individual artists’ work in a variety of locations, including state museums and private galleries.
Visit our global Visual Arts page to find out more about the visual arts in Britain.
Music

Pop, rock, folk, dance and classical: the UK music industry is built on talent, and excellence in promoting it.  We bring the best of British music to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, from classical to contemporary, jazz to drum n bass, with concerts, performances, DJ nights and masterclasses in a wide range of venues.
Visit our global Music page to find out more about British music.

Dance
British choreographers and dancers continually challenge and innovate.  In Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan we arrange visit programmes for British contemporary dance companies to perform, participate in seminars and run workshops.  In the past we have welcomed Random Dance to Almaty and Bishkek and Walker Dance/Park Music and the Russell Maliphant Company to Almaty and Astana. Find out more about selected UK companies and artists working across the disciplines of drama, dance, live art and street arts, or visit our global Dance page.
DRAMA

From Shakespeare to physical theatre, we help to create and promote joint productions between the UK, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and define new boundaries in performing arts. We organise performances, workshops and master classes with British and local theatre practitioners.

Films
From Four Weddings and a Funeral to Harry Potter and Bridget Jones’s Diary, British films continue to break box office records at home and abroad. In Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, we take part in the annual European Film Festival organised by the Delegation of the European Commission by providing a contemporary film from the UK. Our Centre in Almaty also offers a wide range of British films in VHS and DVD.

Literature

The UK has an exceptionally rich literary tradition: Shakespeare, Austen, Dickens and Orwell all continue to have a global audience, while contemporary writing has many cultural influences.
We organise and support visits by British writers, poets and storytellers to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and promote British literature. Our Centre offers a wide range of British literature in English, and it’s easy to become a member. If you like to discuss literature in English, why not join our Reading Group?
