UK Educational Qualification Confirmation Service

British Council Korea provides a number of confirmation services for UK educational certificates only.
These services are

  • A British Council stamp which will be accepted by FCO legalisation services in the UK as the basis for carrying out an apostille of a certificate.  British Council itself can not carry out apostille services.  
  • A confirmation letter [5 copies provided] confirming the details as laid out on the certificate.
  • A letter confirming whether an institute is registered with the Ministry of Education in the UK

Please remember that in all instances when you call into the office to have your certificate confirmed that you need to bring the original with you.

  • Document for apostille:

    Document stamping can be used as the first step in obtaining an apostille, then you must arrange at your own convenience to send this to the FCO Legalisation service in the UK. Information on the FCO Legalisation service is available on the website and separate charges for the service apply. (FCO website)

    According to our information an apostille is required by Korean immigration services in all instances.

Process

  1. We only accept online registration.  Please click on the link below to start the process.

                Online Registration

  2. You will receive a confirmation email when registration is completed.
  3. We will confirm with the appropriate UK institution/s and inform you of the outcome.
  4. We will ask you to call into the office with the original document to complete the process unless you have applied for service number 4.
  5. Cash payment to be made when collecting the document from our office.

※ There may be cases where it is not possible to complete these services due to a non reply from the UK institution
    concerned.

Confirmation Letter
  1. The letter will confirm the education certificates contents both in English and Korean. Details will be checked with the UK institute involved.
  2. Duration:  Approximately 10 working days depending on the speed of response from the UK institution involved.
  3. Fee: KRW 60,000 for 5 copies of the letter
    * Re-issuance within 2 years KRW 30,000 for 5 copies

Official Stamp
  1. We can stamp either the back of the original certificate or a certified true copy that can be obtained from the UK Embassy in South Korea.  There will be an additional charge from the Embassy for this service should you require a copy to be made. The British Council is not allowed to certify copies.  
    * If you need extra copies, please go to the British Embassy in Korea with your passport. (Office Hours: 9:00 – 12:00 p.m. /Tel: 02-3210-5500)
  2. Duration:  Approximately 10 working days depending on the speed of response from the UK institution involved.  
  3. Fee: 60,000 Won to British Council
    * If you have obtained more than one qualification from a British educational institution, you will require a stamp for each ones.

Letter confirming whether UK educational institutions are registered by Ministry of Education in the UK    
  1. Content confirming registration of the UK institution in Korean and English with British Council stamp.
  2. Duration: approx. 3 working days, might require more depending on the situation.
  3. Fee: KRW 30,000 for 5 copies
