When we think of the history of this great sport, we might hark back to landmark moments; Hurst’s 1966 final’s hat-trick, Eusebio’s majestic defeat of heroic North Korea, even the head butt of more recent infamy.

After ten years spent studying in England, Charles Miller returned to the country of his birth Brazil and was amazed that no-one knew how to play football.

Australians developed their own version of football four years before the English FA had established a set of rules in 1863. The game started spreading beyond Melbourne in the 1880s but really took off after World War II.
