 TEACHER NETWORK

 ONLINE RESOURCES

Access English is an English project developed and run by the British Council in partnership with ministries of education in 9 countries in the East Asia region: Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Although there is great diversity in the region, what all the above countries share is a need for support in developing national English Language Teaching agendas and to identify what is required for the successful implementation of English language teaching. The project aims to provide support to changes in English language teaching in three areas: support for policy makers, support for teachers and support for learners.

 SUPPORT FOR POLICY MAKERS

We are conducting research in key areas to support the Ministry and Offices of Education in their planning and to inform policy making. We have completed research into future trends in Korea (English Next), the provision of in-service teacher training and the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in primary English classrooms.

 SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS

We are directly supporting the development of primary English teachers in Korea through two main activities: online materials on EBSe website and a self development DVD package on the theme of motivating learning in the classroom.
