Kids' Corner at the British Council Korea

 Story Time English

Story Time English is a course for 6-year-old children who will be starting school in the next academic year.

Each weekly lesson is based upon a real storybook designed for native-speaker children yet suitable for second language learners with follow-up games, activities and crafts bringing language to life.

Children attending this course will:

  • Learn to interact in an all-English environment
  • Develop a wide vocabulary related to a range of themes
  • Use everyday expressions to interact with their teacher and their peers
  • Gain confidence in their ability to understand English
  • Learn to see English as a tool for real communication
  • Release their creative energy through a variety of artistic activities

In our relaxed and caring environment, children in Story Time English and are fully supported in their early attempts to speak and communicate in English.

 Junior Story Time English

Junior Story Time English is a course for 5-year-old children who will be starting school in the academic year after next.

Each Junior Story Time English class is based around one real storybook with fun and motivating activities to follow, which encourage children to experiment with English for the first time.

All new books and all new activities mean that children in Junior Story Time English will be able to join Story Time English from the beginning of the next school year, giving them a head start for when they are old enough to join our primary classes.

 Story Time +

Children attending Story Time English can now double their learning and development with our brand new course, Story Time +.

This course features an additional weekly Story Time lesson, using the same storybook or song for deeper language exploration and enhanced understanding.

Children attending this course will:

  • Learn extended vocabulary from the original storybook or song
  • Develop their ability to sight-read key words from each storybook or song
  • Listen to and join in with a wide variety of songs
  • Start to employ a phonics-based approach to reading words
  • Learn to identify, pronounce and form key phonics
  • Enhance their understanding of the reading and writing processes

 Registration for new students

Registration for the courses is on a first come, first served basis. Placement testing is not required.

 Re-registration for current students

Current students re-registering for the same class day and class time:
Registration for our current students takes place in the latter two weeks of every four-week term. We will inform parents of the registration dates by SMS, on our Teaching Centre home page and in registration letters that can be obtained at the British Council.
