Welcome to our website!

The British Council in Korea works on a range of programmes in the areas of English, Education, Society and the Arts. Whether working on public projects or behind the scenes, our aim is always the development of further trust and understanding between Korea and the UK and the provision of opportunities to young Koreans.

English is an important area of work for us and we offer high quality teaching programmes across our three centres and through an increasing range of digital products. A major aim is also to support the transformation of teaching and learning of English in Korea by supporting teachers of English with training and resources which we deliver with the help of many Korean partners.

We also offer the IELTS test of English. Aimed at international students, success in IELTS is one of the best guarantees that students can cope with the demands of living overseas and studying in English.

Our Education work focuses on building links between UK and Korean universities and encouraging collaboration in research and exchanges of academic staff and students. We also promote international student mobility: we want more Korean students to study in the UK and we want more British students to come to Korea.

In our Society projects we support networks of young Koreans who are passionate about climate change, protecting the environment or social entrepreneurship. We are generously supported by partners in these projects.

Our Arts work runs under the theme of New Work, New Audiences. We want Korean and British artists to work together to share their creativity and culture and we want art to be accessible to a very wide range of people by exploring different ways of delivering, experiencing and engaging with art.

I should also like to draw your attention to the value we place on equal opportunities and diversity, which means that we want all kinds of people to participate in our programmes independent of race, gender or ability. As we develop relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds through our work, engaging positively with diversity is central to what we do and in line with our core values.

Our website will carry full information about all our activities. Also, our suite of social networking services including blog, twitter, Facebook and Cyworld mini homepage provide news and information about UK culture and education. I hope you will enjoy our events and programmes. Thank you very much.
