Welcome to our website!

In 2008, we worked with our Korean partners on new programmes and major events. In partnership with Seoul National University of Education, we now operate an English teaching centre in southern Seoul, and work with SNUE on English language teacher training. Our programme of school links, Connecting Classrooms, has grown through a number of events aimed at building better contacts between schools in UK and Korea.  We held a seminar on Sustainable Design in co-operation with the Seoul Design Olympiad, and a workshop on English language policy in Korea, Future Perfect, with the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE) and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. At our Gwanghwamun office, we also now run regular UK Academic Lectures.

Our mini homepage on Cyworld continues to grow in popularity, introducing UK culture to the large numbers of Korean people who use that network. We also launched our official blog at the end of March 2009 to come closer to our customers.

In 2009, we hold a New Year dinner for UK alumni at the end of January, and we continue to provide ICELT courses, a training programme for public school teachers of English. With the UK life insurance company PCA Life, we operate the English Adventure Bus which brings high quality English language teaching and teacher support to wide areas of Korea, and this project will continue throughout the year.

We are looking to introduce new large scale projects and investigating the possibility of further partnerships in English language teaching.

A number of our projects are operated across East Asia such as Creative Cities, International Climate Champions (a network of people committed to taking action to limit climate change), Access English and Connecting Classrooms, through which we promote links between schools in the region and in the UK. We will also enhance online communication with you and deliver more of UK culture through our blog and Cyworld mini homepage.

The IELTS examination continues to grow in popularity in Korea for its systematic and face-to-face evaluation of the language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

I should also like to draw your attention to the value we place on equal opportunities and diversity, which means that we want all kinds of people to participate in our programmes independent of race, gender or ability.   As we develop relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds through our work, engaging positively with diversity is central to what we do and in line with our core values.

Our website will carry full information about all our activities. I hope you will enjoy our events and programmes. Thank you very much.
