Once upon a time there was a little girl named Sally.She lived with her mother and Grandfather.She loved to hear the birds sing.There was a boy too in another family.He liked reading books.Soon the girl went to school and though she read books too she passed the tests very quickly.She passed up to 10 grade.the boy also passed grade 10 and soon was a teenager.Then Once they went to the park.But the girl's mother said that they cant leave grandpa alone so they phoned to Autie Nancy and told to stay with grandpa.

Once upon a time, in Vietnam, there was a king, called Hung Vuong. He had a son called: An Tiem. An Tiem had a good heart, but one day he made a false. Therefore the king brought him to an island and on the island lived no one. One day An Tiem saw some birds in the sky eating a strange sort of fruit. The fruit fell on the sand. A long time next, the fruit became a plant with lots of other fruits. The fruit was very big, green at the outside and inside it was red. An Tiem saw that birds can eat it, than people can eat it too. He eats the fruit. It was very, very delicious, sweet with a lot of water inside. Then he spread the seeds of the fruit over the whole island. The next year the fruits became plants with many fruits. An Tiem wrote his name on the fruits and hit the fruits in the sea. A lot of people got the fruits and eat it. The people saw the name of An Tiem and went to the island of An Tiem to buy the fruits. Each day he became richer and richer. He became famous too. Then An Tiem sent to the king the biggest, sweetest fruit. One day the king ate An Tiem's present and the king thought that An Tiem was very talented. An Tiem has discovered a new sort of fruit. Therefore An Tiem might come back to the palace in Hanoi. The fruit who An Tiem discovered was a water melon! Since then the water melon always lay on the altar on Chinese New Year's Days in all Vietnamese houses. The water melons, Banh Chung(Vietnamese Cake) and Banh Day(Vietnamese Cake too) are the symbols of respectable from children to their parents. The End

Once upon a time, in Ancient Greece, there was a terrible monster near Theben. She was called Sphynx and had a beautiful head from a human, but a body of a lioness! Everyone who wants to come to Theben will answer her question if not that person will be killed and the Sphynx shall eat that person as breakfast! That time no one could answer her question and everyone that wants to come to Theben were all in her tummy. One day a strong, young man, called Oidipous, wants to come to Theben. He heard all about the Sphynx and wants to answer her riddle. The Sphynx said : ''Which animal or thing has 4 legs in the morning, 2 in the afternoon and 3 in the evening?''. Oidipous answered it was a human. It was the right answer and the Sphynx never came back. The people from Theben and Oidipous live happily ever after. The End

There was once a bear and a crow, they were best of friends. One day they were roaming around when a wolf saw them and he thought he could eat the bear when he felt hungry.One day he felt very hungry! So, he went to the bear's house.And the bear was alone but he was a gentle guy that he was not used to fight.But you may know his friend the crow, don't you? He was a strong guy when the bad wolf was just about to eat him the crow pocked both of his eyes.And saved the bear's life.

Once upon a time, there was a cat, called Misura. It was very, very little and it couldn't do anything, because its hands were too little.  It wanted to be a respected cat, because the other cats laughed when the little cat can't eat, catch a mouse or other thing what the cats usually do easy. The other cats didn't understand that Misura is a cat like them.  One day, Misura go out from the City of the Cats. It went to another country, with little cats, like it. And it found one. That country was called The City of the Little cats. There the food was easier to eat by the little cats. The strangest thing is the Misura was the biggest cat from that city. Because that, it became the president of the city. After that, The City of the Cats and The City of the Little Cats had a meeting. But the president of The City of the Cats was shocked, because Misura was a president. And like that, Misura became a respected cat.

Once upon a time, there was a mother rabbit who lived with her three little rabbits, Harry, Henry and Herny in a house. One day, mother rabbit had to go to Aunt Eva’s house but couldn’t bring her little rabbits to her house. So she said ,”I have to go to Aunt Eva’s house.You need to study hard. Bye bye!” But once mother rabbit went away, Harry and Henry started to play.  When dinner time was ready, only Herny made the dinner. When mother rabbit came back, she said,” Thank goodness! Why only Herny is making dinner?

In the forest in India there are many village one of them is in west bengal named karandhighi so people living there knowed a house of ghost where if any people goes the people dies so one day i went there and saw a women dressing into ghost dress so i told to every villagers and they all punished the women.

Once upon a time, in Holland, a prince, very rich prince, wanted to marry a princess who was very beautiful and very smart and very discerning. And very rich, too! He galloped all around his country, but there was no princess had all of these terms. He was sad very much, and his parents were very worried, too.
One day, when all of people in prince's palace, there was a very very heavy storm. A girl knocked at the door. The King opened the door.
- Who are you? - The King asked.
- I am a princess. I am the princess who your prince wanted.
- Ok. Come in.
The King and the princess came into the palace. The Queen put a pea under twenty cushions. It is the bed of the Princess. She thanked them and went to bed.
Next morning, in the breakfast, the Queen asked the princess:
- Princess, did you sleep soundly?
- Oh, I couldn't sleep because under my bed, there was a small stone hurt me.
The Queen nodded. She was the most discerning princess she ever seen. The prince also like her because she was the most beautiful princess he ever seen.
After the breakfast, the prince tested her. He wrote on the paper two math problems:
1. Natural numbers from 1 until 11 was written by a natural order. Next, plused one number of these order with the it's order, we have a sum. You must prove: all of sums, we always found two sums and their difference devided 10.
2. On the board, there was natural numbers: 1,2,3,...,1993,1994. You must do that work like this: rub two number of this order, then replace them by their absolute value of difference, then do it again until there was one number on the board. You must prove: The last number was not 0.
15 minutes later, the princess had done. Now, the prince believe her and married her. After that, they lived very happy.
hen the prince was King, and the princess was Queen, the prince and his soldier fighted the agrressors, the princess manage her country very good. The prince had won, the princess was very happy.
You are the best wife. - He said.
Now the pea is put on a museum with the two math problem. Can you solve them?

THE KIND BEGGAR
Once there was a kind beggar in America. One day fairy god mother came to him. She told that she was pleased by his kindness,and gave him a wishing jug. The next day the,beggar wished to marry the princess of America. After some days they got married, the king died. the kind beggar was the new king. He ruled the kingdom wisely and lived happily. It is happy ending. Do not you agree?

Patxi the Blacksmith
This is a traditional story from the Basque Country.
Once upon a time there was a blacksmith called Patxi in Mount Aralar. Hell decided to take Patxi away and so they sent a demon called Zart. He arrived at Patxi’s house they had breakfast together. When Zart wanted to stand up, he couldn’t; he was glued to the chair. He was stuck to the chair for three years. Then Patxi set fire to the glue and Zart went running quickly to hell to tell everyone what had happened.
Hell still wanted to take Patxi and sent another demon called Axut. Zart called out to Axut “If he asks you to sit down, don’t!”
“Okay, thanks.” said Axut.
Axut found Patxi the blacksmith. They had breakfast and Patxi asked him to sit down.
“No thanks. I don’t need to sit down,” said Axut.
“Fine, but I think you need to lie down,” answered Patxi.
“Alright”, said Axut and he lay down on the bed. A few minutes later Patxi spoke to the demon Axut. “I’m ready to go, are you?” But Axut was glued to the bed and he was stuck to the bed for three years. Then he escaped and ran to hell and told everyone what had happened.
Hell still wanted to take Patxi and sent the last demon, Gatz. The other two demons, Zart and Axut, said, “If he asks you to sit down or lie down, don’t.”
The last demon found Patxi. Patxi asked him if he wanted to sit down or lie down but Gatz replied that he didn’t.
“Fine,” said Patxi. ”Would you like some apples from the tree?”
“Yes, please.”
Gatz the demon went to the tree and was glued to the tree. He was stuck to the tree for three years. Then he escaped and ran to hell to tell everyone what had happened.
Years later, Patxi died. After he died he went to hell, but when the demons saw who was coming they closed the doors and Patxi did not enter hell.

The Stonebreaker
This is a traditional story from the Basque Country
One day in a far away village lived a stonebreaker that broke a lot of stones every day. One day a witch saw that the stonebreaker was unhappy with his job and so she decided to help. She asked him what he wanted to be. The stonebreaker said that he wanted to be richer …and he became richer.
The next day he wanted to be the richest man ….and he became even richer still.
He was very happy with his new life until …..One day it was very sunny and suddenly he couldn’t help it and he became a sun. When he was a sun, a cloud went in front of the sun and he became a cloud. The cloud started to rain and drop water and everyone ran into their houses. But the stone that was lying there couldn’t move to get out of the rain and he was turned into a stone.
The next day, when he was a stone, a stone breaker came to break that stone and he thought to himself, “The stonebreaker’s job is the best job of all” and he became a stonebreaker again for the rest of his life.

The Shepherd and The Lamia

Once upon a time a young shepherd went into a forest and he heard a noise. The noise was very beautiful and curious. He saw an elegant girl and he fell in love.
When the boy went to his house he said to his mother what happened. The mother said :"First watch her feet, because she might be a Lamia" The boy didn't pay attention to his mother.
Finally the boy went to the forest and he discovered the secret of the girl - she was a Lamia, a witch with duck's

The Bad Witch

Once upon a time a young couple had a beautiful baby, but a witch envied them. One day the witch dressed up like a hairdresser and went to the couple's house.
She asked the woman, "Do you want me to do your hair?"
"Yes please!" said the woman.
When the witch finished, she stuck a black pin on the woman's head and the woman turned into a crow and the witch dressed up like her.
A few days later the man went into the forest to hunt and he caught the crow and picked up the pin.His wife appeared and talked to him about the witch. An hour later the witch was arrested and the couple could bring up their baby nicely.

Mari, The Witch of Anboto

Once upon a time, there was a witch called Mari and she lived in Anboto mountain in the Basque Country. One day a girl called Mari went to Anboto and she got lost. She went into a cave in the mountain and she died.
She became a witch and she can change the weather and also she can become other things, like a storm or an animal.
If you turn your back on her, she curses you. If she curses you, you can have bad luck or die.

Mari

Mari is the queen of nature and of all the elements. Normally she has got the body and face of a woman. She lives in caves in different mountains, but her principal cave is in Anboto, under the mountain top.
When you visit her in those caves you must follow some rules:
* You have to speak to her informally
* You have to go out of the cave the same way you went in.
* When you are speaking with her you can't sit down.
When she is in her cave in Anboto, the top of the mountain is always in clouds.

Perez, the Mouse

Pérez the Mouse is a traditional mouse from Spain. When a child's teeth fall out, they put them under their pillow and before the night ends, the mouse comes.He takes the tooth and puts a present under the pillow, and when the child wakes up they find the present. When a lot of teeth have fallen out, the child discovers who Pérez the Mouse really is.

Olentzero

In the Basque Country one of the most traditional stories is the Olentzero's story. He was a very bad tempered coalmerchant that gave some presents to the children of his village at Christmas. He lived in the mountains and went on a donkey. He was very fat, he smoked a pipe and wore a beret. Today, in the Basque Country, many families receive their presents and toys from the Olentzero, not from the Three Wise Men or Father Christmas.

THE FOX, THE HARE AND THE COCK

Once upon a time, there lived a fox and a hare. The fox had an ice house and a hare a wooden house.Then spring arrived, the ice melted and fox had nowhere to live. She wanted to live in the hare's house. She went to his house and pushed him out. The hare was very sad. He cried as he walked in the street.

Then he saw a wolf. The wolf asked him, “WHY ARE YOU CRYING?”
The hare said, “BECAUSE THE FOX PUSHED ME OUT OF MY HOUSE.” The wolf wanted to help and he went to the house and he shouted.The fox said, “WHEN I COME OUT I WILL GET YOU!” The wolf was scared and he ran away.

Next the hare met a bear .The bear asked him, “WHY ARE YOU CRYING?” The hare told him about his sad story. The bear went to the house and shouted to the fox, but he was afraid of the fox and he ran away.

Next the hare met a cock with a scythe. The cock asked him, “WHY ARE YOU CRYING?” The hare told him the story and the cock went to the house and shouted, “I HAVE A SCYTHE AND I WANT TO KILL THE FOX!” The fox was afraid and ran away.AND THE HARE AND THE COCK LIVED TOGETHER HAPILLY EVER AFTER.

You can talk to people in your family or your family friends. Does anybody know a traditional story from your culture? Can they tell you the story?

You could visit your local or school library. Are there books with traditional stories? Take one home to read with your family!

Or perhaps you could ask somebody in your family to look at the internet with you to find a local traditional story.
