By Sue Clarke

Steve, Katie, Boff and Lauren are four friends. They play a lot with Steve and Katie's dog, Benjie - and he often leads them into exciting adventures! In fact, the last time they played with him they ended up in a different place and a different time - they ended up in Ancient Egypt!

It's the summer holidays and the children are bored. They've gone out with Benjie to see if they can have another adventure. They've found the door that led them to another world - and the children have all gone through it...where will they end up?

Steve opened one eye. He couldn't believe what he saw. The trees were enormous and looked like jungle plants. In the distance there were rocks or mountains. The horizon was red.

"Where are we?" asked Katie.
"I don't know," said Lauren, "but it looks creepy to me."

They walked around through the thick bushes and trees. All the time they heard strange screams and noises. Suddenly they heard a fluttering noise overhead. They looked up and saw a gigantic black bird flying away. It had a huge head and enormous wings. It screamed as it flew up into the red sky.

"Let's go to those rocks," said Steve. "It looks like a cave over there."
The children set off along a path. After ten minutes they arrived at the cave. They went in slowly. It was very, very dark inside. They looked up at the roof and saw lots of eyes.
"Aagh!" screamed Katie. When she screamed the eyes came alive and moved.
"They're bats!" cried Lauren.
The bats flew around their heads and then out of the cave.
"Thank goodness they are only bats," said Katie.

On the floor at the back of the cave they saw a pile of smooth, round, white rocks.
"Look at these rocks!" said Boff.
"They aren't rocks," said Lauren. "They're gigantic eggs!"
"Wow!" cried Steve. "They must be dinosaur eggs!"
