By now Mary was feeling tired.  Why did life have to be so difficult?  Why did she have to do scary things on her own?

Slowly she made her way to the old dark house where she had to frighten someone for her first Halloween. There were bats hanging from the roof outside and spiders in the windows. As she floated through the front door she heard the squeak of, ughh, mice!

Mary remembered her ghostly tuition and knew exactly what to do. She started to moan and tap the wall as she floated up the stairs. “Get louder as you go up” she could hear her old tutor saying.

It was very dark and Mary’s heart was beating fast – which room was the human in? She looked in one room but it was empty.

The next room had bed and in the bed was a sleeping figure. Mary moaned a little. The figure in the bed snored and turned over. Mary moaned a little louder the figure sat up, blinked.  ”Oy  ghost! Go away will you. I’m trying to sleep!”

Whooooooaaaaaaaoooooo”.  Mary moaned again!

The boy laughed.

“Stop that!” she shouted.  “You should scream!  Be frightened of me!  Be very afraid! It’s Halloween and I’m a ghost.  Oooohhhhhhhaaahhhh!”
