So Mary floated through the moonlit forest until she came to the big dark castle where the vampires lived. She knocked on the enormous wooden front door. Clap clap clap. She heard footsteps ring out across the stone floor, there was a sound of grating metal and slowly the mighty door of the vampire’s castle creaked open.

“Er Hello.” said Mary.  A deathly pale face peeked round the door, dark dark eyes like pools of oil stared back and two sharp white fangs glinted in the moonlight....

“Hello Vampy” said Mary. The Vampire looked at Mary, smiled, opened his mouth wide and sneezed

'A------tish---------ooo!!!'

“Hello Bary!  How are you!  Don’t come too close.  I’m bull of a cold.  Think it’s the flu.”

“Oh dear, I’m sorry” said Mary.  “It’s my first Halloween tonight and I wanted someone to come with me. The houses are so dark and scary and full of mice and rats and spiders and bats and people!”

Vampy said “Oh they’re not scary Bary. Sorry but we’ve caught our death of cold. The vamp doctor told us to stay in bed for a week and eat ….fruit! Yuk!” The vampire made a face. “Mary, you don’t have any chicken or sausages with you do you?”

“No sorry, I don’t” said Mary.

“Oh well.” The vampire thought for a moment. “Why don’t you ask the witches. They’re usually in the forest tonight and they might help you.”

“Thanks Vampy” said Mary “Get well soon.”
