By Sue Clarke
Alan is asleep one night. Suddenly he is woken up by bright lights in his room. He looks out of the window and sees a spaceship. It has landed and dark shapes are coming out of it...aliens. As the spaceship takes off again, the noise and lights make Alan's head swim. Then everything goes black. What's happening? Read and listen to the next part of this story.

"Bklul doople zinkg oogly"

Alan slowly woke up. Where was he? What was that strange sound?
He listened hard in the dark. Was he still in his bedroom? Then he heard it again.
"Gloopx flubl zing woogly"

He sat up in his bed and switched on the light.
"AAAAgh!!" he screamed.

Right in front of him was an alien. It was green with purple spots on its body. It had huge eyes and a long metal antenna sticking out of its head.

The alien looked at Alan and smiled. What horrible teeth it had! The alien tried to speak again.
"Bloogle woggly"
"I'm sorry, I don't understand," said Alan.
The alien looked hurt. Alan wasn't frightened any more.
"What's your name?" he asked.

The alien didn't reply. This was a problem Alan had never had to face before. How do you say hello to an alien? Suddenly he had an idea. Maybe they could use his computer.

Alan got out of bed and went over to his desk. He switched on the computer. The little alien followed him and looked at Alan's computer. The alien pointed at the computer and started to laugh. The alien pressed all the keys on the keyboard and stared at the screen. Then suddenly he began to talk.

"Hell …..o!" he said. "Goo….ooood ev..en..ing."
This was great! Now the alien could talk to him!
"What's your name?" asked Alan.

The alien spoke very slowly.
"I .. am Zogol," he replied.
"Where are you from?" asked Alan.
"I am from the Planet Pegasi 5. It is very far from Earth."
