We work with government bodies and policy makers, higher education agencies, university leaders, academics and students in Kazakhstan and worldwide to support international aspects of higher education by providing UK expertise, encouraging policy dialogue, fostering international collaboration and partnerships.
Our activities in Higher Education in Kazakhstan include:
is a five-year regional project, launched in 2008, that aims to significantly strengthen the academic and research partnerships between the UK and a strategic selection of countries in Central and South Asia, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
INSPIRE engages higher education sector in the UK and regional/local initiatives at the departmental, institutional and policy level through strategic partnerships, leadership programmes, policy dialogues, activities for researchers, and sector research and analysis.
is a new global project which aims to globalize knowledge partnerships, promote innovation, extend policy debates, and establish a new generation partnership model with businesses to develop global knowledge economies.
IHE comprises four key strands of activity:
Knowledge Partnerships will facilitate strategic partnerships between higher education institutions, industry supported by governments where possible, in Kazakhstan and the UK.
Policy Dialogues will enable higher education policymakers and institutional practitioners from Kazakhstan to gather and debate key issues facing higher education. The British Council already has a track record in enabling strategic dialogue with participation of a delegation from Kazakhstan in the Council’s major international higher education conference - Going Global in 2008, 2010 and 2011, local roundtables (“Internationalization in Higher Education”, Almaty, October 2009) and regional forums (“Building Cultures of Innovation in Higher Education”, Islamabad, November 2010).
Education Intelligence will deliver market research through a portal accessible to all institutions and organizations keen to understand international student mobility, decision making and comparative approaches to internationalisation.
Student and Alumni strand will focus on supporting student mobility both into and out of the UK within the wider context of institutional partnerships. Alumni work will reflect the need to maintain connections and offer opportunities for networking to many alumni in Kazakhstan who graduated from UK institutions.
