Going Global 2012

Going Global 6 Conference, organized by the British Council, has finished. Distinguished participants consisting of over 1300 delegates from 80 countries all over the world discussed the issues of internationalization and globalization of education at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre. The main theme of the conference was: Changing education for a changing world.

One of the key features of Going Global 6 was that the separate session devoted to Central Asia region was included in the programme of the conference for the first time. The session titled "Education Reform in Eastern Europe and Central Asia," was conducted by representatives from Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan. They talked about the development of the research and innovation, so that the higher education system of the region could better meet the needs of the modern world.

Delegates from Kazakhstan, who represented our country at the Going Global conference were, Aida Sagintayeva, Director of the Center for Educational Policy at Nazarbayev University, Saule Abdygapparova, Director of the Institute of Economics and Business of the Kazakh National Technical University and Kulyanda Nurasheva, Director of the Quality Assurance Department, of the South-Kazakhstan State University.

Almost all the delegates mentioned the high level of the event organization and shared their impressions.

Shigeo Katsu, the President, "Nazarbayev University":

"We are participating in this conference because the theme "Change Education in a Changing World" is completely relevant to our activities. As you know, the establishment of "Nazarbayev University" was the President Nazarbayev’s idea to create graduates prepared according to the highest international standards in order to contribute to research, education, and the national economy."

Kulyanda Nurasheva, Director of the Quality Assurance Department, of the South-Kazakhstan State University:

"We prepared a poster presentation, which demonstrated current updates on internationalizing of higher education in Kazakhstan and steps to integrating into the changing world of education.

I would like to encourage our specialists who participate in the international conference, to improve their English so that they can actively participate in the discussions."

Since its inception in 2004, Going Global has grown from a bi-annual event in the UK to an annual event that alternates between the UK and a different international location.
