If you are from 16 to 19 years old, your English is good and you want to make changes in the community – participate in our competition! The winner will take part in the Annual Global Changemakers Youth Summit in the UK on 13-19 November 2011

Global Changemakers is a British Council funded global youth network of social entrepreneurs and community activists from 113 countries. The Changemakers are a select group of youth – ages 16 to 19 – from diverse backgrounds who have demonstrated a significant track record of achievement in their local communities through social entrepreneurship, community activism, and volunteer work. They are part of a global network where they share knowledge, ideas and best practices, and where they work individually and together on projects that directly impact the lives of those in their local communities.

To be selected for the 6th Annual Global Youth Summit candidates should:

  • Be committed to bringing about positive change in their communities
  • Have a proven track record of social entrepreneurship, community activism or volunteer work
  • Aged 16 - 19 on the first day of the summit
  • Possess good spoken command of English
  • Be free to attend the Global Youth Summit in the UK on 13-19 November 2011 if selected
  • Submit a written application and 2-minute You Tube video detailing their track record in community work and how they plan to contribute to the network activity and wider impact if selected.

The deadline for submitting the online application form and video is 24 July 2011

The winner will be announced by 20 August 2011.  

The following participant costs are covered by the British Council: travel, visa fee, accommodation and meals during the summit.
