Competition for the Day of European Languages

What do you consider, when you hear the word “Europe”? Do you think about something far away or close? Do you see the influence of Europe in Kazakhstan? Are there any similarities and differences between Europe and Kazakhstan?

How many languages are spoken in Europe, how many languages are spoken in Kazakhstan? Which of the European languages is your favourite one? Is there European fashion in Kazakhstan? What music do young people in Europe and Kazakhstan listen to?

The topic of the competition “Europe in Kazakhstan” should consider Europe and Kazakhstan, promote interest in Europe and Kazakhstan, show the differences and similarities, and more.  

What you need to do:

Take a photograph expressing your personal idea on the topic “Europe in Kazakhstan”, using a camera or mobile phone following the criteria below:

•Format – jpg

•Resolution – 300 dpi

•Size of the photo –1 MB to 3 MB

•Along with your photo, send your full name and surname, postal address, e-mail address, and telephone number (local and mobile)

Participants

The competition is open to young adults from Kazakhstan, who can speak at least one foreign language (age from 18 to 35). The contest starts on May 11, 2011 and the deadline for submission of photographs is September 20, 2011.

Voting

After the deadline of acceptance of photos, photos will be posted on the EUNIC page in Facebook for public voting. Everyone can vote only once.

Winners and Prizes

Winners will be announced on September 25, 2011, at CAFE.Europa. At the languages festival the best photos will be presented to the audience. The following prizes will be awarded:

1. prize: Netbook

2. prize: digital photo camera

3. prize: iPod

Jury

The Jury of the competition are representatives of the following institutes of culture: Alliance Francaise, British Council and Goethe-Institut in Almaty.

The following criteria will be evaluated:

•original content

•the main idea of the photo

•creativity

•artistic components
