Kazakhstan Delegation took part in the international conference on higher education reforms organized by British Council in Islamabad, Pakistan. The agenda of the conference was formation of knowledge transfer policy.
The event was held in order to enhance the level of knowledge in the following areas: collaboration and knowledge transfer between HEIs and industry to promote technological and economic growth, and provide opportunities for partnerships.
During the conference the participants discussed HEIs’ role in socio-economic and cultural domains on state and international levels, the factors of a state policy that influence knowledge transfer, strategies and mechanisms for knowledge transfer realization on institutional level.
The delegates from the UK, Turkey, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Iran, Egypt and other countries took part in the conference. The head of the Kazakhstan delegation was Innovative Eurasian University principal Askar Kamerbeyev. The Dean of textile and food industry professor Zhumakhan Myrkhalykov of Auezov‘s South Kazakhstan State University (SKSU) made a report on strategic partnership of SKSU with Manchester Metropolitan University and a free economic zone “Ontustik”. This partnership operates since 2009 in textile industry in the framework of British Council’s INSPIRE project.
“The participation in this event has exposed that the level of higher education is very high in Kazakhstan. And guideline developed in the universities are advanced”, - said the principal Kamerbayev.
“Conference participants have displayed interest in the joint project of SKSU, free economic zone “Ontustik” and Manchester Metropolitan” – mentioned professor Myrkhalykov.
The event was held in the framework of British Council’s INSPIRE project in higher education, which is aimed at strengthening academic and research partnerships between Higher Education Institutions of UK and Kazakhstan.
