Cultural Leadership International 2012 Orange lozenge left
Festival Organisation and Management Workshop, Almaty 27-28 February, Astana 1- 2 March, 2012

Within the framework of the Cultural Leadership International programme the `Festival Organisation and Management Workshop’ sessions took place in Almaty on 27-28 February and in Astana on 1- 2 March, 2012.

To conduct the workshops British Council Kazakhstan invited Roger McCann, a director of NFA International Arts and Culture, a UK organisation working on the development of international projects in the arts.

Roger is a Lecturer in arts management at London South Bank University where he teaches on courses in Arts Management and Theatre Production. As a trainer he has created short courses for a wide range of UK organisations, establishing the UK arts sector’s longest running residential courses in marketing and management. He has worked internationally for organisations including British Council, Visiting Arts, Soros Foundation and Council of Europe.

During the two day workshop, participants explored the cultural events management specifics by exercising their creativity as well as their project management and negotiation skills and learned how to procure sustainable financing, analyse stakeholders and so much more.

Participants said that they found the workshops comprehensive and relevant. Some of them mentioned it was useful for networking and productive in terms of new ideas. According to the feedback received almost all the participants agreed or strongly agreed that the workshop satisfied their expectations and was well-organised and effective.
