We are changing by becoming an Information and Learning Centre

We are in the process of developing new approaches in our work with the aim of focusing on our customers’ self-development aspirations. We will develop new products and services aimed at independent learners and teachers of English and will increase our support for their professional and personal development.  As we will provide information and advice on study skills and self-learning, we envisage that the main beneficiaries of our new approach will be teachers of English, young people with learning and professional development needs, and students preparing for study in the UK.

We aim to complete this process of change by 1 April 2008.  By then we will have created exciting new opportunities, such as counselling services for independent learners; computer-based learning modules and tests for self-assessment, as well as online resources for both teachers and learners, particularly of English; self-learning packages and study-skills materials for independent learners; training and introduction sessions for newcomers; and reading and discussion activities too.

Because of this, we won’t be able to offer any new library memberships from 1 November 2007. We will of course honour our commitments to our existing members and they will still have full access to our resources and services until 31 January 2008.  Even then the books and materials you may have come to like will not simply disappear, but will be donated to partner institutions where they should still be available to you.
