EUNIC, Almaty, Organises the First Ever European Film Festival

Between 13-19 May EUNIC Almaty will organise European Film Festival in the Caesar cinema, jointly with Oleg Boretskiy’s Cinema Club with the support of Almaty Akimat as part of the Year of Culture. During the Festival eight countries will present the following films:

May 16, 19.00 Perfect Sense (UK, presented by British Council)
May 17, 19.00 Games of Love and Chance (France, presented by Alliance Française Almaty)
May 18, 19.00 Lila, Lila (Germany, presented by Goethe Institute Almaty)
May 19 17.00 Sound of Noise (Sweden)/19.00 Giulia Doesn't Date at Night  (Italy, presented by Comitato “Dante Alighieri” Almaty)

Iván Fenyö, leading actor in hungarian film Children of Glory, will be a special guest on the opening of the Festival. The Film Festival will be opened by Aurelia Bouchez, EU Ambassador in Kazakhstan followed by greeting speeches by Lena Milosevic, President of EUNIC, Almaty, and Barbara Fraenkel-Thonet, Director of Goethe-Institut.

EUNIC is a network of international cultural relations institutes of the member states of the European Union. Formed in 2006, it has over 30 members from 26 countries. EUNIC members work in over 150 countries with over 2,000 branches worldwide. They work in the arts, youth, education, intercultural dialogue and development sectors.

EUNIC Almaty was established by the Alliance Française Almaty, British Council, Comitato “Dante Alighieri” Almaty, Goethe-Institut Almaty and Consulate General of the Republic of Hungary in May 2011.
