After the beginning of the lesson 4 witches come to the room. (4 girls from the upper level learn poems and prepare the witches clothes 2 weeks before the lesson). They are “flying” around the room saying their poems:

WITCH 1: When the night is as cold as stone,

                  When lightning severs the sky,

When your blood is chilled to the bone,

That's the hour when the witches fly.

WITCH 2: When the night-owl swoops for the kill,

When there's death in the fox's eye,

When the snake is coiled and still,

That's the hour when the witches fly.

WITCH 3:  When the nightmare screams in your head,

When you hear a strangled cry,

When you startle awake in your bed,

That's the hour when the witches fly.

WITCH 4: When the sweat collects on your brow,

When the minutes tick slowly by,

When you wish it was then not now,

That's the hour when the witches fly.

1. Read  the story to the students and let them write what Jerry saw in his dream.

A HALLOWEEN DREAM

"Whooooo! Whooooo!" came the sound from out of the darkness.

"Wh-wh-what's that?" asked Jerry.

"I think it's just an owl," said Susan. "But I'm not afraid, because

you're going to protect me," she smiled.

Jerry and Susan fell fast asleep, but Jerry dreamed all night about

strange things in the woods.

2.Give out worksheet (download below) and ask students to find and circle all the scary things that Jerry dreamed about.

3.Checking the home work. It was the following task: Creating a monster

Congratulations! You have just been selected to create a new monster for an upcoming scary movie. You can make it out of any and all of the art materials available. It is your own personal creation.

Include the following:

Name of the monster,  favourite thing to eat, where it lives.

Write a brief biography about your monster’s experience in scaring people.

Students show their monsters and tell us about them.
