Resources and materials: handouts, pictures of nature, video cassette with local nature .

PROCEDURE

Pre-activity
Energizer., warming up questions Begin asking students different questions.(Do you want to know more about the nature of your own country and the country our guests come from? Are there any big rivers in Arizona? What is the climate like in Kazakhstan?)
Some introductory ideas about natures of 2 regions, prepared by students.(General information about Kazakhstan, specific information about East-Kazakhstan region and concrete information about our town).

Activity
Vocabulary activity, circle debates .The class is divided into 3 groups to make a diagram finding similarities and differences in nature of both countries using pictures and their knowledge. They use discussion and debate. After 10 – minute work the bigger diagram is completed for the whole class.

Post-Activity

  1. Watch video materials about Kazakhstan’s nature and nature of Arizona It is presented as a visual point at the end or within each stage of the procedure)
  2. List some new facts about the topic that impressed students most
  3. Cards for fun. Imagine you are an animal. What kind would it be? Imagine that you are one of the animals you have seen today.
