Pre-activity:

  1. Brainstorm. Students should choose a lot of words connected topic “Engagement and Marriage”.
  2. A teacher gives the students some questions for the text.
    а) What do you think about family in Kazakhstan?
    b) What do you think about family in the USA?
    c) What differences are between families in Kazakhstan and in the USA?
    d) What are the common features of Kazakh and American families?
  3. Game “Choose a pair”. A student must match the right translation of the sentence in Russian language for the sentence in English language.
    1. Boys and girls are permitted to become «engaged» still in their  «teens».
    2. My intended.
    3. English girls receive no marriage portion.
    4. The bridegroom and bride go to the church for the wedding service.
    5. The prominent feature of the wedding – breakfast is a highly - decorated «wedding - cake».

    A. Жених и невеста венчаются в церкви.
    B. Юношам и девушкам разрешается обручиться уже в подростковом возрасте.
    C. Моя суженая.
    D. В Англии не существует понятия «приданное».
    E. Главной особенностью свадебного торжества является свадебный торт.
