To the attention of the English Language Teachers of secondary schools

The British Council is launching a new project: ETTE - English for Teaching: Teaching for English.

Our partner: Republican In-Service Teacher Training Institute

The ETTE project is aimed at:

  • improving the classroom performance of teachers of English, especially those teaching in remote areas;
  • increasing teachers’ access to a variety of developmental methods and ELT materials.

With this aim the British Council is forming an ETTE team of trainers. The selected applicants will first participate in the preliminary teacher training course to be conducted on 23-25 of July in Almaty.

The ETTE team trainer will receive the UK training on:

  • methodology;
  • materials design/adaptation;
  • developing trainer skills

The ETTE trainer will then

  • cascade the training to other teachers in the region;
  • design/adapt teaching materials;
  • support English teachers in their teaching process

Teachers of remote areas will get an opportunity to learn more teaching ideas, share their experience with other teachers and immediately put new ideas into practice. There will also be resource centres where they can find materials for teaching. The project will last till 2010.

If you wish to become an ETTE trainer and you

  • are experienced in modern ELT methodology for secondary teaching;
  • are aware of the school teachers’ needs in our country;
  • are able to evaluate training given and respond flexibly to further needs;
  • teach and are based at a secondary school;
