Digital English Champions programme for Teachers Orange lozenge left

The British Council in Kazakhstan is announcing a call for applications from English language teachers for the British Council’s Digital English Champions programme.

The aim of the programme is to directly engage English language teachers, as active users of the British Council’s e-resources for teaching practice, to carry out cascading workshops

The Digital English Champions will be required to:

•Attend a three-day training course in Almaty (Digital English Champions training)
•Contact directors and heads of schools, colleges and university departments, educational departments or INSETTIs in their regions to get agreement to run cascading workshops
•Run at least two workshops (the duration of one workshop is five hours for a group of minimum 20 participants) between February and March 2013, to train participants (English language teachers) in how to use the British Council’s e-resources for teaching practice
•Provide reports as requested by the British Council

Digital English Champions Training

As a result of the training the Digital English Champions will:
•Develop their knowledge of the British Council’s e-resources for English learners and teachers
•Develop their skills of using digital resources efficiently in teaching practice
•Develop their communication and trainer skills
•Agree schedules for the cascading workshops in the regions with the British Council’s coordinator and the procedures for reporting

The Digital English Champions training is scheduled for the beginning of February 2013

Criteria for selection

Applicants must:
•Be English teachers
•Have fluent English (Intermediate level) and good IT skills
•Have good communication skills
•Be experienced in delivering trainings, workshops or presentations
•Be committed to delivering cascading workshops to local English language teachers
•Preferably be members of an English language Teachers’ Association or Professional Organisation for English language teachers
•Preferably work closely/have contacts with their local Department of Education or INSETTIs.
•Be citizens of Kazakhstan

Expenses and fees

The British Council will:
•Cover all expenses related to the Digital Champions’ training including travel , accommodation  and meals
•Provide Digital English Champions with all materials, including trainer packs
•Pay a fee of 1,500 per hour for delivering cascading workshop

If you wish to apply for this programme, please send an application form by email to learnenglish@kz.britishcouncil.org no later than 18 December 2012. Successful candidates will be contacted by 25 December 2012 and invited to the training.
