Evening Presentations will be carried out by:

Paul Wheeler, BSc(Hons) ARSM , Senior Teaching Fellow - Mining, Camborne School of Mines

Paul is a Mining Geologist with over 23 years experience in mining related roles. His early career included work as a mining geologist and resource estimation geologist on hydrothermal gold and base metal operations in Europe, West Africa and Central Asia. Paul spent eight years as a Lecturer with Camborne School of Mines before leaving in 2004 to establish his own consultancy practice specialising in mining geology, mineral economics and mining analyst/due diligence work. From 2009-2011, Paul was Senior Consultant to GFMS Mine Economics and responsible for analysing and forecasting cost and production data for gold mines and projects globally.

Paul returned to Camborne School of Mines in September 2011 as a Senior Teaching Fellow with responsibility for extending links with industry and for the design, production and delivery of material across the Mining Engineering and Mining Geology programmes (undergraduate and post-graduate).

James McNaughton - International Officer STEM (Science, Technology Engineering & Mathematics)

James McNaughton started working for the University of Exeter in September 2011. His role is to support the internationalisation of the two science and engineering colleges in the University. Prior to 2011 James worked for the South West of England Regional Development Agency as an International Investment Manager.  In this role James worked specifically with international high tech, clean tech and advanced engineering companies who wanted to establish a business or partnership in the South West of England.

James helped to establish several R&D agreements between South West Universities and companies such as Toshiba, Vestas Wind Energy and Hewlett Packard. James has direct experience of what companies need in terms of skills and training, particularly those in the engineering sector.

Meet Anne Morgan, Marketing Officer at Cardiff University, for a presentation and discussion about practical tips on how to apply to a UK university.

As a part of Cardiff University’s outreach visit to Kazakhstan, Anne Morgan will give the presentation at the British Council’s Almaty office for prospective students interested in applying to and studying at a top university in the United Kingdom.

Ranked 15 in the UK and top 1.5%(QS) in the world, Cardiff University is one of the Britain’s leading teaching and research universities that has been producing successful graduates since the first students entered in 1883.
