Test and develop your English skills
If you are sixteen or older and are planning to study, live or work abroad, you’ll need to take an IELTS test. You can take this test with us at the British Council in Kazakhstan
Details: Exams Department or visit the IELTS website.
Costs: 23 500 KZT, payable in cash at our centre in Almaty.
What is an IELTS test?
IELTS tests are used to test your English skills in speaking, reading, listening and writing. There are two kinds of test available: an academic test for studying abroad and a general test for living in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. When and where can I take my IELTS exam?

IELTS exams take place regularly at our centre in Almaty. Find out when the next test is.

The exam begins at 1300. You will take the Writing, Reading and Listening papers together. The Writing and Reading papers last for 60 minutes and the Listening paper for 30 minutes.

The Speaking test is taken separately, on a different day, and lasts for about 15 minutes. You will receive confirmation of your time slot for this test from our exams team one week before the exam.

How can I apply for an IELTS Test if I do not live in Almaty?

How do I prepare for the test ?

We are introducing a new one-day IELTS workshop for prospective candidates

  • to help you become familiar with the format and different components of the IELTS test
  • to introduce and practise the skills and strategies you need in order to perform to the best of your abilities in the test

You results on-line
Only candidates sitting exam with the British Council can view their test results online! You can view your results on the 13th day after your test date. The results are displayed on the site for 28 days.
