Global Xchange is a cross-cultural exchange programme run by VSO (Voluntary Services Overseas) in partnership with the British Council.

In September a team of 18 volunteers (aged 18-25) from China and the UK will be arriving in Edinburgh to spend over 6000 hours engaged in voluntary work on local community projects for 10 weeks and we are appealing for community hosts.

Can you host a pair of volunteers in your home?

			Would you like to learn more about another culture from the comfort of your own home?
			Are you available for as little as one week?
			Do you have one spare room? Volunteer pairs will share
			If not, do you know someone who does?

Global Xchange provides:

			A weekly allowance of £85 per pair of volunteers to cover food costs
			Volunteers who have gone through a selection process and training
			A briefing for you before the volunteers arrive
			Two project supervisors on hand for support whenever necessary.

We ask for people to accommodate 2 volunteers (1 from China and 1 from the UK) for part or all of the ten weeks. The pair will be same-sex and are willing to share a room. Potential host homes will be asked to provide two referees for a Programme Supervisor to contact prior to the volunteers’ arrival.

Volunteers are willing to clean and cook for themselves, and will be occupied with volunteer placements during the week and some weekends. They will arrive in Edinburgh on September 19th and depart the first week of December.
