António sums up an imaginary ‘delegates’ day’ with his own thoughts and views:

Key note speaker
I had never viewed the environmental education project in my school as my passport to a three-day conference on climate changes in London. Although I’ve been working on many projects for five years, this is the most important event at which I have ever represented my school and my country. This invitation recognised our work and I accepted this challenge as I accept the challenge to tackle climate change.

First Speaker: Global problem
The main impression we got from the summit was the global dimension of the problem. The effects are all around the world: in our countries, our families, ourselves. We must forget our differences and tackle it together! That’s one of the reasons why we created strong friendships between ourselves, and why all the delegates really enjoyed music, the global language.

Second Speaker: Individuals' work
There were many suggestions about how we can act as individuals to improve our planet: advise our neighbours, distribute information on the mail boxes, and clarify the problem to our younger colleagues. Our role, as delegates of this summit, is to transmit to families and friends the information we received and start working now! How many people can we educate? What can billions of educated people do?

Third Speaker: The schools’ work
A behaviour-change is urgently needed to effectively tackle climate change. Schools are the places where we can educate more people in a shorter time. Children receive the information more efficiently and by educating children we are educating their families. We must tell them that it’s still possible to maintain our life conditions. That’s what my school is doing since the eighties. We entered the eco-schools project in 2003 and we received annually the maximum prize: the green flag.

Panel Debate conclusions
After debating, the delegates concluded: Our countries must do much more; this was a fantastic and unique opportunity to learn. We understood clearly that we’ll really be “friends for life” tackling climate change together to have a better world.

Vote question
Those three days were the most fantastic we lived. 100 per cent yes!
