Success with Presentations

We have all had to sit through poor presentations, or felt uneasy about how well we have put our point across. The idea may be a great one, but unless the message is communicated effectively to the audience, you will not succeed. We will show you the key principles of presenting your ideas effectively. We will identify strengths and weaknesses and enable you to better structure a presentation through taking control of yourself. You will gain awareness in signposting, signalling, and using and handling questions through presentation practice and analysis.

Interpersonal Skills

First impressions count. We make a judgement on potential partners, whether they are business or romantic partners, in the first few minutes of meeting them. That is why it is so important to make that ‘right’ first impression. In this course we will work together to enable successful communication in the workplace. The Visual Channel, the Vocal Channel, and the Verbal Channel are all mediums for communication and we will discover models that work for you. You will develop your skills in speaking style, your awareness of active listening, and become a better communicator over all.

Customer Care

“The customer is always right.” Well maybe not always, but it is your customers that drive your success and growth. Getting customer focused is the key to your survival in this competitive business world. Getting and keeping customers is the aim of this course. It looks at the key principles of customer service, including overcoming barriers, careful communication, being helpful, interpersonal skills and the language we use, dealing with problems, plus personal action plans.

Customer-focused Telephone Skills

After your web site the telephone may be the first point of contact a potential customer has with your company. The next step is to have a face to face meeting. However, if that first impression on the telephone is not a good one that customer may be lost. We will orient your staff in ways of relating to customers and identifying yourself. We look at you and your voice, promoting an image, spelling things out,  good listening skills, being proactive, handling details, dealing with problems, and finally putting all this into good practice.

Effective Time Management

We all feel that there are sometimes just not enough hours in the day to get our work done. This can be just because we take on too much, or that we don’t plan the use of our time effectively.  This course can aid managers in using their time better and also help them to identify bad practice in others and remedy any problems. We will look at analysing time wasters, and identifying personalities. You will discover techniques and models that will aid you in setting priorities and achieving goals. The art of delegation, managing interruptions, desk management, and time planning will help you to lift that load.

Creative Problem Solving

You can wade through a text by Edward De Bono that gives you ideas not directly related to your experience, or you can work with like minded professionals to discover new ways of thinking and solving problems. Together we will look at ways of being creative, and thinking ‘out of the box’. You will analyse problem solving stages and methods, and the ‘fault tree’. We will go on to identify solutions, find your best solution, and finally take that through to implementation and review of a solution.

Leadership and Teambuilding

Does your organisation work as a team? Can you see the benefits of everyone having a stake in the success of your company? This course allows us to not only see the benefits of teamwork, but also to identify ways in which we can put it in to practice. We will look at team roles, and building team identity. You can set goals and measure their success. Together we will discover how to motivate to achieve the greatest commitment from those we work with through building trust and effective communication. We analyse decision making, empowerment, dealing with conflict, and team leading.

Report Writing

Writing is a two-way communication process. Unless your writing meets the needs of the reader, it will not fulfil its aim. In a globally competitive world your writing should stand out for its ability to communicate effectively. This course aims to give you the language and skills to do this. We have worked with NGOs and commercial enterprises around the world to enhance their ability to communicate effectively through report writing. We will pass on our experience in defining reports, organisation and structure, the ‘5 Cs’, making recommendations, presenting information clearly, and graphic organisers There is comprehensive use of case studies and report samples.
