IELTS
International English Language Testing System

What is IELTS?
IELTS meets your entry requirements for college and visa processing, if you are planning to migrate or study abroad.
How many modules does IELTS have?

It has two modules:

  • Academic Module if you are planning to undertake higher education.
  • General Training Module if you are considering non-academic training, work experience or immigration.
What is tested?

Four English language skills are tested:

  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking.
How are my papers graded?
There are nine levels of grades that range from non user (1) to expert user (9).
Why IELTS?

Because it

  • is recognised world-wide
  • is available in 106 countries
  • is accepted by universities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and North America
  • can give you results 13 days after the written test
  • is for anyone aged sixteen and above.
How can I prepare for it?
  • Browse the IELTS website. Electronic sample tests are available.
  • Buy the 'IELTS Specimen Material' that consists of a 75 page book and a CD. It describes the four sub tests. It shows you the sort of questions you can expect, helps you practise the skills you need and contains an answer key and a transcript of the recordings. Its price is USD 35.00 or LBP 52,000.
  • You can also purchase 'IELTS Practice test with key' which consists of 256 pages of exercises and it also comes with 3 CD's. Its price is USD 48.00 or LBP 72,000.
  • Register for a 24 hour IELTS preparation course at the British Council.
How and when to register?

You need to:

An application form will not be processed unless the form is completed and all the required documents are presented with it.

Our registration policy is based on first come first served and the maximum number we can accommodate is 50 people per session. There is no deadline but once a session is fully booked, we can not accept any more applications. This sometimes happens at peak times so it is best to book early.
