Strengthening human rights and governance

The British Council’s Society programme aims to enhance the UK’s reputation as a modern diverse society, committed to strengthening democracy and human rights through dialogue and partnership with other countries.

We work in partnership with government and civil society to advance debate, knowledge and skills in the areas of governance, public sector, human rights and social inclusion

In Israel, we work together with central, local government and non government organisations, in order to ensure that we demonstrate UK experience that is relevant and useful to local needs and interests.

Modernising Government

Modernising Government (and Modernising Local Government) is the name given to the programme launched by the current Labour government, aimed at providing accessible, quality, and inclusive services to the public. Find out more

Mainstreaming diversity describes the way government laws and policies ensure that equal opportunities are available to all sectors of society, in particular women, minorities and the disabled. Find out more

British Council Israel’s sport programme makes available the UK’s ideas and experience in using sport for personal development and learning. We aim to get the best out of young people, creating opportunities for them to explore values and other cultures; to become leaders and active citizens and to bring together different communities while helping them realise their own potential.
